Deputy Sheriff Alejandro Martinez succumbed to injuries sustained on November 16th, 2022, as he and other recruits from Academy Class 464 ran in formation as part of their morning physical fitness routine. Deputy Martinez was a U.S. Army National Guard veteran and had served with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department for only eight weeks at the time he was injured. He is survived by his father and sister.

Deputy Sheriff Ryan Clinkunbroomer was shot and killed in an unprovoked ambush at the intersection of Sierra Highway and Avenue Q just outside of the Palmdale Sheriff's Station at about 6:00 p.m. Deputy Clinkunbroomer had served with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department for eight years and was a third-generation member of the agency. He is survived by his fiancée, parents, and grandparents.
Sergeant Michael Domingo Paredes

Sergeant Michael Paredes and Police Officer Joseph Santana were shot and killed while responding to a domestic violence call at the Siesta Inn at 10327 Garvey Avenue in El Monte. Sergeant Paredes served with the El Monte Police Department for 22 years. He is survived by his wife, son, and daughter. Sergeant Parades was posthumously promoted.

Sergeant Michael Paredes and Police Officer Joseph Santana were shot and killed while responding to a domestic violence call at the Siesta Inn at 10327 Garvey Avenue in El Monte. Officer Santana had served with the El Monte Police Department for one year and previously served with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office. He is survived by his wife, daughter, and twin sons.
